Suspension: front, control arm
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE NOT TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATIONS WHEN THEY WERE ATTACHED TO THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS.
Risk and remedy
Risk: IF THE BALL JOINT ATTACHING NUTS ARE NOT ADEQUATELY TIGHTENED, THEY CAN LOOSEN AND ULTIMATELY, RESULT IN FRACTURE OF THE BALL JOINT STUD. IF THE BALL JOINT FRACTURES, CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE COULD BE AFFECTED, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TORQUE ON THE TWO BALL JOINT ATTACHING NUTS. VEHICLES WITH LOOSE BALL JOINT ATTACHING NUTS WILL EITHER HAVE THE FASTENERS TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATION, OR IF NECESSARY, THE BALL JOINTS WILL BE REPLACED.
Seat belts
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH TRW SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES. THE BUCKLE BASE OF THESE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES WERE NOT PROPERLY HEAT TREATED AND THEREFORE DO NOT PASS THE LOAD BEARING REQUIREMENT OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 209, "SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES."
Risk and remedy
Risk: IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY RESTRAINED.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND CHANGE, IF NECESSARY, THE SEAT BELT BUCKLES.

Suspension
2000-11-16 · campaign 2000-267
On certain vehicles, the front suspension lower ball joints may not have been tightened to specifications during manufacture. This could result in loosening of the attaching nuts and, ultimately result in a fracture of the ball joint stud. This could adversely affect vehicle control and a crash could occur. Should the left side ball joint fracture, the wheel and tire could contact the fuel lines or the fuel filter potentially resulting in fuel leakage. Correction: Ball joint torque will be inspected and vehicles with loose ball joints will either have the fasteners tightened to specification or if necessary, the ball joints will be replaced.
Seats and restraints
2000-10-23 · campaign 2000-232 · 223 vehicles
Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of C.M.V.S.S. 209 - Seat Belt Assemblies. The seat belt assemblies may not withstand the force requirements of the standard. In a crash, if the belt buckle fails, there is an increased risk of injury to the occupant. Correction: Belt buckle assemblies will be inspected and replaced if necessary.
