Structure

Issue: On certain vehicles, moisture could enter the driver-side door lock microswitch and cause it to corrode. As a result, the microswitch may fail to automatically engage the parking brake and/or the auto park feature when the door is opened. If this happens, the vehicle could roll away. Note: This problem could also cause the radio and/or interior lights to remain on after exiting the vehicle. Safety Risk: A parked vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Mercedes-Benz recommends that you should always use the parking brake when you park. Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the driver-side door lock.

Label

Issue: On certain vehicles, the vehicle type printed on the compliance label is incorrect. The vehicle type should be "MPV/VTUM" instead of "PC/VT". Canadian regulations require the vehicle type to be identified on the compliance label. Safety Risk: This small error does not affect safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. Mercedes-Benz has made changes to ensure that all new vehicles have the correct vehicle type printed on the compliance label.

Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with the emergency calling (eCall) system, the SIM card for the communications module could disable itself. If this happens, the eCall system would not work properly when there is a crash or when the SOS button is pressed. Safety Risk: If the eCall system does not work in an emergency situation, there could be a delay in response from emergency services. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to each vehicle. If the update cannot be completed successfully, you will be notified to schedule an appointment to have the update performed by a dealer.

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the central display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the rearview camera software.

Lights and instruments

2022-02-16 · campaign 2022-065 · 34 vehicles

Issue: On certain vehicles, if the hazard lights are switched on while the ignition is off, the lights on some interior switches may not work. When the ignition and lights are turned on, the lights on the switches may stay off. Canadian regulations require certain switches to light up when the ignition is on and the lights are switched on. Note: If the hazard lights are switched off, then the ignition is cycled to off - and back on again - the switch lights should work properly. Additional note: This is an expansion of Mercedes-Benz recall 5493102 (Transport Canada Recall No. 2020-062). Safety Risk: While there is a low risk to safety, lighting of important switches is required by Canadian regulations. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the instrument cluster software.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the repairs for recall 2021-052 may not have been properly completed. As a result, a second inspection is necessary. On certain vehicles, the outside of the driver's sun visor does not have the required airbag warning label. Canadian regulations require that information about the airbag system is provided on both sides of the sun visor. Safety Risk: This label provides a driver with information about the airbags and/or child restraint safety recommendations. Not following these recommendations could create an increased risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the driver's sun visor.

Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with the emergency calling (eCall) system, the communications module may temporarily lose power during a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air update to each vehicle.
