Powertrain

2024-02-16 · campaign 2024-103

Issue: On certain vehicles, the air conditioning drain hose might be installed incorrectly. This could allow water to leak inside the vehicle. If this happens, electrical components could short circuit. This could affect different parts, such as the door locks and emergency call (eCall) system. It could also result in reduced engine power or cause the vehicle not to start. Note: If this issue is present in your vehicle, you might notice wet carpets in the driver or passenger footwell and fogged windows. This is an expansion of Transport Canada Recall 2021-247. Safety Risk: A loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. If the doors cannot be unlocked in an emergency situation, it may be difficult to exit the vehicle. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect how the air conditioning hose is installed and correct it, if necessary. The placard lists a maximum pressure of 320 kPa (47 psi) instead of 300 kPa (44 psi). Canadian regulations require this information to be consistent on both the labels and tires. Safety Risk: This error does not affect vehicle safety. Michelin has indicated that the tires can be operated safely up to a maximum pressure of 350 kPa (51 psi). Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. Mercedes-Benz has corrected the tire loading and information label on all new vehicles.
